Attainment has a 25-year history of developing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, and this extensive experience is evident in GoTalk NOW. Designed as a versatile, user-friendly, yet robust application, it caters to individuals with speech difficulties by integrating familiar features with advanced capabilities.

GoTalk NOW combines the straightforwardness of Attainment’s original GoTalk devices with the dynamic potential of an iPad platform. The application encompasses key elements expected from a high-quality AAC solution, including customizable page layouts, personalized navigation options, recorded and text-to-speech functionalities, and an integrated symbol set. Notably, the development team has dedicated significant effort to refining features that distinguish it from other AAC apps in the market.

The latest version introduces three distinct styles of communication pages: Standard, Express, and Scenes. Standard pages facilitate interaction via pressing specific areas. Express pages utilize a speech bar that sequentially plays recorded or text-to-speech messages upon pressing. Scene pages leverage images or photos; users can overlay invisible hotspots that trigger speech, music, or videos when activated. Users have the flexibility to combine different page types within a single communication book.

Users can create multiple communication books with customized settings and unlimited pages. These can be shared via WiFi with other users and securely backed up through cloud services like Dropbox or transferred to Mac or PC systems. The app also offers multimedia integration—blending video, music, and interactive jumps—creating a rich communication environment. Additionally, users can store up to five personalized templates in an online gallery for free and easily email these templates to parents or colleagues.

GoTalk NOW functions as a comprehensive scanning app as well. Its features include:

<li>Multiple images combined within a single location for enhanced messaging;</li>
<li>Customizable coloring of pages, borders, and text;</li>
<li>Text resizing and repositioning through touch controls;</li>
<li>Voice recording capabilities or built-in text-to-speech voices in over 20 languages available for purchase starting at 99 cents each;</li>
<li>Auditory labels for buttons to support scanning, assist visually impaired users, and reinforce vocabulary learning;</li>
<li>In-app video trimming and playback from communication locations;</li>
<li>A selectable video interface for easy pause or exit; </li>
<li>Integration of playlist songs linked to communication points with playback controls;</li>
<li>A core vocabulary button providing quick access to essential messages;</li>
<li>Multimedia social stories and sequential instruction templates using page linkages;</li>
<li>Wireless sharing of complete communication books among users of GoTalk NOW;</li>
<li>Backup options via Dropbox or transfer to Mac/PC for data security;</li>
<li>An online gallery hosting interactive templates that include speech, video, text, and jump links—free for users;</li>
<li>The ability to download and customize pre-made templates from Attainment’s public collection at no cost;</li>
<li>Email sharing of template links enabling recipients to open on their own iPads by tapping the link;</li>
